“My pet rocks”, weekly feature spotlights pets from neighborhoods across Jefferson, Bullitt and Oldham counties. Each week they celebrate one of your pets. This week’s winner, Zuko, is pictured at right.
If you want your pet to be considered? Here’s how it works:
Submit a photo of your dog, cat, hamster, iguana, etc., doing what makes him or her so cute.
Write a paragraph or two about what makes your pet special.
E-mail the photos in jpeg format and send the information to mypetrocks@courier-journal.com. Please include a daytime telephone number.
They’ll choose a featured animal each week and hold a “Best of …” contest each month. They’ll also compile an Internet photo gallery of the pets submitted and of the winners at www.courier-journal.com/neighborhoods.

These are of special interest to playful cats and kittens who see these materials as toys (or prey) to be chased, pounced upon, chewed or swallowed. While chasing and pouncing pose no health threats, chewing and swallowing do, as these strings or “linear foreign bodies” can catch in the GI tract, leading to bunching of intestine as the body tries in vain to move the string or ribbon through.
