The ”two-headed turtle” disappeared from the store

The turtle had been popular among the neighborhood children, and had been kept in the window area.

Sometime on Sunday, between the store’s opening, at 11 a.m., and noon, when a child asked Mr. Casey where the turtle had gone, the turtle had disappeared.
Mr. Casey (owner of Hamilton Dog House [] , an animal shelter and pet supply store on East Third Street in Brooklyn) said he suspected a neighborhood kid took the turtle, rather than a thief intent on selling it. He said he believed the turtle was probably worth between $2,000 and $5,000, based on what museums and zoos might be willing to pay. The store is offering a reward of at least $1,000, which is in part funded by donations.
