Pets With Famous Names
While old favourites like Max and Charlie are still popular monikers, celebrity names like Beyonce, Missy Elliot, Beckham and Elvis are growing in popularity, a study carried out by pet charity PDSA found.
The study found more unusual choices including a Birmingham-based cat called Ozzy after rocker Ozzy Osbourne and a mischievous tabby named after the cartoon character Sponge Bob Squarepants.
More exotic choices include a sleek greyhound called Posh and a portly crossbreed from Bradford called Fat Boy Slim.
One Shar-pei pup from Cardiff who nearly didn’t make it into the world after a difficult birth and is hence a real “survivor” has been named Beyonce by proud owners.
The charity also discovered rabbits and small furry pets with celebrity names including football-mad Rooney, the rabbit from Manchester, and two London-based guinea pigs called Ant and Dec.
Max and Charlie top the ten favourite cross-species names.
In the overall cat top ten, owners are still plumping for the predictable Tigger, Sooty, Felix and Lucky.
