Vaccine clinics : The Broome County Health Department and Front Street Dog Shelter Alliance will sponsor rabies clinics.
They only a $5 donation per animal suggested, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Maine town garage, Ellis Payne Road; from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at Otsiningo Park, near the pavilion, Town of Dickinson. Pets must be under the control of their owners. Proof of previous vaccination is necessary to be effective for a three-year period or it will be considered a first-time vaccination effective for one year. Information: 778-2493.
Microchip Clinic
* The Front Street Dog Shelter will hold a Home Again Microchip Clinic from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at the pavilion at Otsiningo Park, Town of Dickinson. Registration fee: $35. Information: 778-2493.
Free checkups
* The Binghamton Animal Clinic, located at 164 Main St., Binghamton, offers a complimentary exam for new pets for the first week after purchase. Pet owners must bring this announcement and proof of purchase.
* The Veterinary Medical Center, located at 373 Hooper Road, Endwell, offers a free health checkup for all new puppies and kittens within the first week of purchase. Owners must present this announcement at time of checkup. Information: 748-7489.
* The Endwell Animal Hospital offers a courtesy puppy and kitten health exam within two weeks of purchase. For an appointment, call 754-9160.
Spay/neuter programs
* Animal Care Council can help you make a difference in pet overpopulation through its SNAP program (Spay-Neuter Assistance Program). The council offers a reduced-cost spay/neuter program for any cat that needs to be altered, including any strays you may be feeding. Details: Call 786-SPAY (7729).
* Chenango County SPCA SNAP (Spay-Neuter Assistance Program) is looking for tax-deductible donations to assist with the cost of spaying and neutering pets in Chenango County.
