Pet Owners Asked to Chain Dogs to Check Rabies
The Tangkhul Mayar Ngla Long (TMNL) and the Tangkhul Katamnao Shaklong (TKS), have sternly warned the people of Ukhrul not to let their dogs loiter on the street but to keep them chained at their respective houses or compound and to administer anti-rabies vaccine immediately.
Announcing this all over Ukhrul Town today the two organizations earlier held an indepth discussion on the outbreak of rabies in the State and issued a proclaimation order that states that any stray dogs found on the road/street will be fined or killed without any warning with immediate effect by the volunteers for the greater interest of the public and urged all the pet owners to adhere to the notification.
The public proclamation was issued following reports of the death of 18 persons after being bitten by dogs.
Ukhrul District has over 18000 domesticated dogs.
The step taken up by the TMNL and TKS is to check rabies in the district.
