Dog Lovers Beware : New Law Against Pit Bulls
Stockton and other cities soon will be able to decide whether pit bulls or other dog breeds must be spayed or neutered, under a new law signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The law, which takes effect Jan. 1, was signed Friday, about four months after a San Francisco 12-year-old was mauled to death by his family’s pit bull. In 2001, 2-year-old James Dehoyos died after he was mauled by a pit bull in Stockton. The owner agreed to have that dog euthanized.
But many animal advocates say the law discriminates against breeds that unfairly have been deemed aggressive.
Several pit bull owners say there is no reason to fear the breed.
Stockton resident Dustin Diaz’s 3-year-old pit bull, Misty, sleeps in his house and plays with his 2-year-old daughter, Kailani. A dog’s demeanor depends on its owner, not its breed, said Diaz, a 28-year-old carpenter.

I disagree with the claims of other people saying that Pitbulls are aggressive. Being a pitbull owner myself know that it all depends on how the owner raises that dog, my dog loves kids and is the sweetest pitbull and just because one incident happens doesnt mean you have to blame all the other dogs for that mistake! Think about it if a smaller breed of dog does the same thing are you going to punish all of them for that I just think its not right at all, if people keep doing this we are going to run out of all the animals!!!
