Bulgarian lawmakers banned the causing of pain, misery and stress to pets, the national radio reported.
The fresh law includes numerous restrictions aimed at making pet care safer, and guaranteeing happiness for the animals.
Causing injuries or death to the pets, or making them feel “fear, suffering or stress” would be criminal acts according to the rule.
Parliament also banned pet fights.
